The Challenge. Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning came to Onyx in need of the strategic business counsel that would help propel this family business into an enduring lasting legacy. Onyx knew the panhandle of Florida was saturated with competitors and our job was to find a way to allow Barineau to rise above the crowd. Onyx created a plan of action emanating from its roots of excellence, service and familial values dating back to 1972.
The Results. Careful planning and impactful design have positioned Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning as one of the most recognizable companies in the region. Its new brand identity frequently receives acclaim and the ongoing interactive advertising campaigns continue to win numerous awards in broadcast, print, web and collateral design.
By teaming with Onyx, Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning has successfully leveraged its 40 years of experience into the admiration and trust of an entire region. Founder Larry and his sons, Patrick and Shane, are leaders known for state-of-the-art products, superior service and industry excellence and now the company has a brand identity, mixed-media campaign, public relations presence and interactive website that reinforces these values.
Unique Branding To
Visual Identity. Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning places a great deal of importance on customer loyalty and retention, and as such, Onyx customized a brand package evoking retrospective iconography and imagery interjected with modern mass-media appeal. The vintage visuals set the foundation of trust, confidence and reliability; while the modern spin on message and campaign strategies attracts the attention of a younger generation.
The Elements. In order to remain true to its roots, Onyx gave a nod to the nostalgic by using aesthetics inspired from a vintage baseball league. The identity was comprehensively unified across custom tailored collateral from print, to signage, to uniforms - all carrying a retrospective iconography with a faded screen-print appearance.
A hero comes to life.
After the successful development of Barineau’s new brand identity and interactive elements, Onyx moved forward in creating a multimedia campaign to champion the company’s metamorphosis.
Following a rigorous series of brainstorming sessions, script alterations and storyboard sketches, a new hero came to life with the introduction of Barry Knows Cool.
Introducing Barry to the World.
Onyx integrated the character of Barry into a fully interactive campaign including print ads, promotional mailers and broadcast. In order to achieve maximum resonance, the Barry character was depicted as an every man, someone who falters as we all do, but is excellent in his industry. Together, Barineau and Onyx introduced Barry's version of cool to the masses. By teaming with Onyx, Barineau has been propelled to recognition for this award-winning persona.
Bringing it all together. Soon after his television debut during the Super Bowl, the Barry character took on a life of its own, resulting in a twitter feed, landing page, interactive quizzes, coloring books, radio commercials, posters, billboards, newspaper fold-outs, phonebook placements, Facebook spots and even an ad for Barry’s trusty sidekick: Ducty the Duct Duck.
Before long, Barry was showing up everywhere, proving himself to be an unstoppable force for coolness in the heating and air conditioning world. Beloved by his fans, the persona has become an integral part of the Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning brand.
Website. The Barineau website provides more than an extension of the company's identity, it also serves as an e-commerce platform which provides quick and easy service contract enrollments, aggregating value updates, pricing resources and a compendium of education resources.
