ONYX GROUP WINS BIG AT THE 4TH ANNUAL TALLY AWARDS
Tallahassee, Florida, January 31, 2009 – Onyx Group took home two awards at last weekend’s 4th Annual Tally Awards. The agency was the people’s choice for Best Marketing Firm and Best Web & Graphic Design. This was the second year in a row that the group was awarded Best Web & Graphic Design.
“It’s such an honor to be recognized two years in a row for Best Web & Graphic Design! And to win Best Marketing Firm as well – wow! Our thanks and love go out to everyone who voted for us. Thank you so much!” said Agency Co-Principal Nadia Kamal.
Adding to the excitement for Onyx Group were the awards won by 5 of their clients: Gibbs & Culpepper Tree Service for Best Tree Service Company, Capital Training Resources for Best Professional Service, William W. Gwaltney for Best Law Practice, Aegis Computer Services for Best Computer Repair, and Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. for Best Air Conditioning Company.

Tallahassee, Florida, January 27th, 2009- This week Onyx Group launched their new consulting division called ‘or-ge-nīz. ‘Or-ge-nīz will offer strategic planning, meeting facilitations, and seminars. ONYX GROUP ANNOUNCES MIAMI EXPANSION
Tallahassee, Florida, January 26, 2009 – Onyx Group is coming to Miami. The agency announced this week that they will expand business into Miami and Fort Lauderdale as part of the marketing communication agency’s plan to become a major player not only in Tallahassee, but in south Florida as well.

ONYX GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW PARTNERSHIP
Tallahassee, Florida, January 9, 2009 – Onyx Group announced this week that creative manager Kris Carter has become co-owner of the agency, joining Nadia Kamal as an Agency Principal. Carter’s innovative and unique designs have helped the agency move into the spotlight as one of Tallahassee’s premier marketing communications agencies.
“I’m so excited that Kris is coming on as an Agency Principal. From the day he started at the company, I knew he had an enormous amount of design talent and was extremely business savvy. This has been a long time coming,” says Nadia Kamal, Onyx Group Agency Principal and co-owner.

Onyx’s latest edition is Mr. Angel Acevedo, Graphic Designer Extraordinaire, hailing from Miami. Angel’s edgy and creative style fits perfectly with the Onyx way of creative. Angel adds that much more energy and creativity for our clients. A little about Angel:

-Does his best design work in the wee hours of the morning, but he’s really an afternoon person
-He is currently honing his design skills at Miami International University of Art & Design

Onyx welcomes Matt Meinrod aka “The Sweet Talker” to the team. Matt, ANOTHER Tampa area transplant, will be helping supplement Nick’s local efforts by spreading the word of Onyx on a regional level. Matt’s extensive football and bodybuilding background have created a passion and determination like no one else. His main focus for Onyx will be to visit surrounding metropolitan areas to develop relationships with potential and ongoing clients. Onyx travels far and wide to seek business opportunities. Actually, just to Orlando to the 2008 MatchMaker Conference hosted by the Florida Office for Supplier Diversity. This event highlights Minority and Women-owned businesses throughout Florida – teaching them on how to work with the state, to capitalize on bids and contracts.
Kris and I set out Wednesday evening for the two-day event in Orlando, FL. Thursday morning came quickly and we found ourselves, eating breakfast with about 350 other business owners and employees looking to gain some insight on opportunities with state agencies. Shortly after breakfast we had our first workshop which went till lunch. Governor Charlie Crist spoke at the luncheon and in the afternoon we set off to another workshop. Wrapping up the day with a reception was another great opportunity to network for fellow vendors and businesses.
On Friday, we manned the best looking booth there (no partiality here) meeting more state agencies, fellow exhibitors, and businesses. We met tons of great people and heard great stories also. I learned a lot about state procurement, and look forward to future opportunities. The MatchMaker Conference was definitely a success and we will be back next year.
