Tallahassee, Florida, June 15, 2009 – June has not only been a busy month in the office for Onyx Group staffers, but also around the community as charitable efforts are becoming more apparent. Participating in both the 2009 Big Bend Start! Heart Walk and Big Bend March of Dimes events in the coming weeks the Onyx team has been charging throughout town looking for donations and are right on pace to reach their goals.
“It’s so easy to get caught up in our own lives in and out of work, but working hard for good causes like the Heart Walk and March of Dimes gives me a chance to give back to the community,” said Matt Meinrod.

June is looking to be a very busy month for Onyx Group!
On June 2nd, Nadia Kamal, Onyx Group Agency Principal, will be co-presenting the Emerging Business of the Year Award at the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Small Business of Excellence Awards. To purchase tickets to this event, go to www.talchamber.com.
On June 9th, Nadia will be speaking for the University Center Club’s “Appetite for Learning” series. The topic of her presentation will be “Social Media and Integrated Marketing.” Please note that this event is for University Center Club members only. On June 17th, Nadia will be speaking at the Tallahassee Society for Association Executive’s Power Lunch, where she will discussing the importance of strategic planning for association executives. This event is open to TSAE members and non-members. Click here for more information.
On June 18th, Nadia (she’s a very busy woman!) will be speaking at TSAE’s CEO Roundtable discussion (topic TBD). The Mission of the TSAE CEO Roundtable is to provide any TSAE member who is an association CEO education and information regarding issues relevant to association management and the office of chief executive. Onyx Group will be participating in the 2009 Big Bend Start! Heart Walk this October. We have pledged to raise $2,500 for the American Heart Association and we need your help!
Heart related health issues have touched most of our lives in one way or another: heart disease and stroke are the nations number 1 and number 3 killers respectively. You can do your part to fight heart disease by donating your time or money to Onyx Group. Participants who join the Onyx Group team and help us get to our goal of $2,500 will receive a special edition Onyx Group Heart Walk t-shirt designed by our Uber Doodler, Kris Carter.
In January 2008, the Centers for Disease Center (CDC) release new mortality data which shows that, since 1999, coronary heart disease and stroke age-adjusted death rates are down by 25.8 percent and 24.4 percent, respectively. This means that the American Heart Association’s 2010 strategic goal for reducing deaths from coronary heart disease has been achieved, and for stoke nearly achieved – well ahead of schedule. A new impact goal for 2020 is already being developed.
