The Client
From strategic planning to branding to developing a relationship, Onyx has gotten to know Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning from the inside, out. Barineau has allowed us, through brand management, to push them outside of the box to develop creative social media, print and digital campaigns.
The Challenge
Barineau needed a commercial that would be a hit during sports season. So the team at Onyx held a brainstorming session where a star was born: Barry, an extraordinarily average man, with superpower heating and air conditioning skills. Barry made his debut during the 45th Super Bowl, right before half time.
The Video
Onyx worked hard to storyboard, develop the copy and plan the video. Finding the voice and ‘the’ Barry seemed to fall into place. The first video is an introduction to Barry and one that needed to last throughout the sports season. The video was shot in the Barineau parts warehouse, which is how Barry wanted it. The idea behind the video, Barry Knows, is intended to be a storyline, so the campaign has longevity. We don’t want Barry to be a one hit wonder.
The Site
We wanted to develop a place for people to go to learn more about Barry. So the Onyx web development team created a splash page – www.whatbarryknows.com - where an interactive quiz, some facts about Barry and Barry’s tweets would be displayed. The site helps bring Barry to life by giving him a home outside of his commercial.
The Results
Since the rebrand and strategic plan, Barineau Heating and Air Conditioning has had their busiest December on record. We love working with great clients. Collaboration and creativity are keys to a successful relationship. And right now, Barry is driving… because Barry knows creative.
