Our B.I.G. Idea

Recently, the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2011 Business Innovation & Growth (aka B.I.G.) Summit. Part of the conference gave attendees and businesses a chance to submit a video to win the  B.I.G. Award. With KrisDrew, and Chloe set up in our swanky new "Triple O" (Orlando Onyx Office), we were definitely going to be sending in a submission.

The challenge was to produce a video that was to "capture your ultimate customer experience." While what we do at Onyx can be a little less tangible than what other companies do for their clients, we were up for the challenge.

We wanted our video to have a powerful message so we decided to show that Onyx is willing to get directly involved in understanding a client's business and customers. We want to be able to take the ball and run with it, but in order to do that, we have to know as much as possible about our clients so we can make the right decisions for them. When one of our clients, F4 Tech, was hosting a conference up in Lake Guntersville, Alabama, Aaron and I hopped in the car and drove 400 miles to be there with them. I got to sit in on a presentation about the new features for their forestry inventory software, interact with their customers and business partners, and see the hardware they use and sell in action.

It was a fun, whirlwind road trip. Lots of good food and lots of quick stops at fast food places. I even developed a cold along the way (fun game: find the place in the video where I lost my voice). Ultimately, we did not win the B.I.G. Award. However, while we may not have won, we are still very proud of what we produced and what we do.
